About

I'm Inderjot "Indy" Singh—a QuestBridge Scholar and sophomore at Brown University studying Computer Science and International & Public Affairs. My work operates at the intersection of technology policy, AI governance, and public interest technology, focusing on how digital systems distribute power, shape public infrastructure, and impact vulnerable communities.

My core philosophy is rooted in the inviolable nature of human dignity: the innate respect given to every person simply for being human. Thus, I believe the circumstances of a person's birth should never dictate their potential or outcome. Inequality—in my eyes—is the greatest injustice, and it's one that has existed since the beginning of civilization.

Technology is the most powerful tool civilization has ever seen; it has the power to change that persistent pattern of inequality. Without proper guidance, however, it risks exacerbating inequality and consolidating power. I aim to ensure that emerging technologies, from foundation models to digital infrastructure, are governed to protect the public good rather than enable digital feudalism.

My commitment to public service is drawn directly from my background. Raised in a single-parent, low-income Punjabi household in Olathe, Kansas, my lived experiences give me a deep sense of gratitude and urgency to transform the systems that limit underprivileged communities. In my career, I aim to bridge the gap between technical execution, grassroots advocacy, and policy design in order to build the legal and regulatory frameworks necessary to align powerful technologies with human flourishing.

What draws you to tech policy?

Technology is the most powerful lever civilization has for changing entrenched patterns of inequality—but only if it's governed well. I want to help build the frameworks that keep that power accountable to the public good.

What are you working on right now?

Co-developing a curriculum handbook on AI governance and tech ethics with Brown's Center for Technological Responsibility, alongside independent research on how data center energy demand burdens lower-income households.

Where are you from?

Olathe, Kansas, raised in a single-parent, low-income Punjabi household. That background is the throughline behind why I care about the systems that limit underprivileged communities.
